Guerilla Race 2017: From an inspiring run to a surprising marriage proposal
Few days after the love month wrapped up, another Guerilla Race series ended with a bang! Other than finishing the physically tough obstacle race, a surprise engagement also took place at the finish line of the race.
More than 500 participants joined in the fourth installment of Guerilla Race, which happened last February 26, 2017 at Altaraza in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Taking the race to another level of intense challenges, participants went to the venue early Sunday morning and bravely completed these exciting yet physically demanding obstacles.
A Military-Inspired Race
Guerilla Race, a competition patterned to a military training, left the participants with mud stains, sweat and dusts as they played their hearts’ out to conquer the race. They did withstand the trails filled with various obstacles such as mud/dirt crawl, javelin throw, sand bag carry, 6ft high wall, among others in order to complete the race.
Most of the participants were runners and fitness buff who managed to prepare for this kind of physically challenging battle. Racers, whether individual or group, selected which obstacle to pursue. Those who ran for 5K also known as Guerilla Sprint were faced with 12 different obstacles, while racers under the 10K or Guerilla Warrior did 18 hardcore obstacles.
According to Ms. Veronica Ramos, Marketing Director of Guerilla Race, this premier and only
obstacle race aimed at allowing the participants to experience the similarly intense training of our valiant soldiers in defending and protecting our country. Despite the absence of former military man, the man behind Guerilla Race, Lt.Col. Dennis Bumanglag in the said event, Mr. Gasbamel Olonan took over and rose to the challenge in leading the race at Altaraza to success.
Love at the end of the Race
Coincidentally, Guerilla Race Altaraza, which happened last February, is a month of love. Someone took advantage of this event by giving a surprising marriage proposal to one of the participants of the said race.
Mr. Bryan Chan prepared a unique marriage proposal to his partner Lois Chua after she approached the finish line of Guerilla Race. Lois, after uttering the big YES to her man, went emotional as she did not expect that her race finish would allow her to take another stage in love – her soon to be marriage.
Racers and even the organizer witnessed this momentous event. A great and strong finish in the Guerilla Race led to a start of a new chapter in the lives of Bryan and Lois. This romantic and memorable event is now part of the history of Guerilla Race. Consequently, another history was written again in the province of Bulacan.
