August is best known to be the National Language Month. No wonder that Filipinos’ nationalistic spirit is at a high every time this month comes around. And in the essence of being nationalistic, it is just but fit and timely to introduce some of the most promising homegrown brands that have the potential to make it big and make the country proud in the future.

ONE EARTH ORGANICS

The story of one entrepreneur, Ma Tyfannie Anne Short or Tyff, began when she got frustrated with the chemical-based skin product she was personally using. Unable to find an alternative, Tyff took a big leap and developed One Earth Organics. It is a proudly Filipino brand, FDA-approved organic skin and personal care line, that deliver results without the harsh side-effects of chemicals. What started as an online company that sells underarm kits now grows into a business that offers bath soaps, feminine wash, facial and body moisturizers, essential oils, makeup, and slimming products. Everything is made from plant and food-based ingredients including antioxidant blends. The line is free from animal testing, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, and artificial colors.

MESSY BESSY

Who would have thought that shopping for cleaning and disinfecting products can be so much (cute) and fun? Well, with the penetration of Messy Bessy in the market, now it can be. But don’t be fooled with their funky name, this company only uses ingredients for their products that actually clean – no fillers, no bubble-makers, no colors, no artificial scents. And for more, Messy Bessy only chooses earth-friendly ingredients that are safe to go down the drains and into the streams. But do you know what’s the best part of supporting Messy Bessy?  It means that you are also supporting young adults in their scholarship program. So really, what’s not to love about this company?

WHIFF

After the rain comes the rainbow. That’s the perfect description of how Whiff was born. Founded in 2014, Whiff of Perfume was born out of heart-break. Whiff’s founder, Mishy Co, had to look for an outlet to channel her energies and perfume-making came into picture. She realized that scents have a strong connection to memories, inspiring her to create scents after her trip to Grasse, France. Her first collection, which was ironically called the “Heartbroken Collection”, was an instant hit to the public and even had celebrity clients. All of them loved the sweet and subtle fragrances, which are reminiscent of high-end brands, sans the hefty price. In 2016, Mrs. Heart Evangelista-Escudero,together with perfume enthusiast RJ Lopena, had a collaboration with the company and they launched the line “Linger”. Since then, Whiff continues to prove not only in the country but to the whole world that Filipinos can produce world-class perfume that are at par with international brands.
