NEW DESTINATIONS FOR VALENTINE
By: MONICA VERALLO
Cold winds tingling the skin, hearts and cupids dominating the window displays, vendors selling roses on the streets – love, quite literally, is in the air. And these are just some of the signs that the most awaited month of all the romantic souls in the planet is just around the corner. February, or as most people refer to as the love month, celebrates love in all forms. Be it the love of a husband to his wife, the love of a daughter to her mother, the love of a girl to her bestfriend – there’s no better time to celebrate it than on February 14.
Preparations for the big day takes time though. With all the options and choices available, it is easy to get overwhelmed and lost. One wrong choice can ruin this once a year celebration, hence, it is highly recommended to prepare ahead of time. Below are some of the newest places to try in case one is looking for a new Valentine experience. One advice though, make reservations as these places are sure to get filled on the big day.
New Hangout Experience
What better way to start Valentine’s Day than to start it in the sweetest way possible. Say hello to the newest hangout place in the metro – DESSERT MUSEUM! Yes, that’s right. A 12,000 square feet of space is turned into a sugar-coated museum that houses some of the most yummy attractions. Ever heard of a Cotton Candy Forest or a Liquorice Rainbow? Or ever been to a place called Full of Never Ending Bubbles? Well, the Dessert Museum has it all! And the best part? Guests will be treated to sample desserts that fit the themed room to complete the awesome experience. This place is scheduled to be opened this February but tickets now are being sold. Make sure to check their website or Facebook page to know how to score that most in-demand passes.
New Dining Experience
After indulging your taste buds with all the sweetest treats you can possibly think of, time to fill your tummies with the best savory dishes. Relatively new in the metro, THE TEST KITCHEN is a 20-seater culinary playground of award-winning Chef Josh Boutwood. Located at the Bistro Academy where kitchen experiments actually happen, Chef Josh offers intimate dining experience that assures privacy to their clients. What’s really unique about this restaurant is the fact that Chef Josh constantly changes their menu, so even if one is a regular, there will always be something to try out. As their website says, “repetition here is RARE.” The Test Kitchen serves a 6 and 8-course menu.
New Movie Experience
After having dinner, head on to the newest movie experience in the metro – CINEMA CENTENARIO. Situated along the famous Maginhawa Street in Quezon City, it is indeed a breath of fresh air among the various food spots in the area (but in case you want to have a midnight snack after the movie, you’re literally steps away from different food hubs). A brainchild of film-maker Hector Barretto Calma, along with nine other partners, Cinema Centenario just opened late last year to the public. This 65-seater cinema prides itself in showcasing all sorts of local films, even those made by independent film-makers who are looking for a place to showcase their masterpieces. The intimate setting of the cinema, complete with state-of-the-art design of the screen and the sound system, will surely complete a perfect Valentine date.
